Yesterday, Heather Gates, CEO and President of Community Health Resources (CHR), had the pleasure of participating in a roundtable discussion at Family & Children’s Aid in Waterbury. Alongside the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro, and U.S. Representative Jahana Hayes, the roundtable discussion focused on the mental health impacts of gun violence. During the discussion, Gates discussed CHR’s full continuum of services for children experiencing serious emotional disorders (SED) and adults with serious mental illness (SMI) and substance use disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorders, and how CCBHC funding through SAMHSA has enabled CHR to achieve critical milestones such as 24/7 behavioral health crisis coverage for adults and children.
Read more about the event in a recent WNPR article, in which Gates is featured discussing the impact that funding from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act would have on CHR’s services.
