CHR is one of four agencies selected to participate in a new initiative to ensure timely care for young adults, ages 12 to 21, with substance use and co-occurring mental health needs.

Ten staff from CHR’s Child Outpatient and School-Based Therapy programs recently completed training in an evidence-based model known as the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment Prevention and Access to Treatment Hubs and Services (SBIRT PATHS). Sponsored by the Child Health Development Institute and the state Department of Children and Families, this initiative will establish a community-based model of co-occurring care for youth that addresses gaps in early substance use services, prevents the progression of substance use disorders alongside other unmet social needs, and facilitates connections between levels of care.

This initiative will expand three evidence-based practices (EBPs) for youth including: Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MET/CBT), and low-touch Service Coordination using the Wraparound model. CHR is proud to be part of this project and offers a wide range of evidence-based programs for youth ranging in age from toddlers to young adults. Learn more about SBIRT PATHS here.
