Participate at Your Convenience During Mental Health Awareness Month & Join CHR for Celebration on June 1!

WINDSOR, Conn.  – CHR, the state’s most comprehensive, non-profit behavioral healthcare agency, is making it easy for everyone to support mental health awareness month this May.

CHR’s 1 in 5, the annual 5K walk and run, is adding a virtual component this year. This means that people can participate by running or walking a 5K course at their convenience, any time or any place during the month of May. Everyone is then welcome to take part in a celebration and “Last Chance” 5K on Saturday, June 1 at The Promenade at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor.

How does it work? It’s easy! Go to www.charityfootprints.com/chr5K to make a payment and enter information about your walk or run. Photos are welcome. Everyone who participates, virtually or in-person, will receive a goodie bag and tee-shirt.

Is there an actual event? Yes! On Saturday, June 1, we will gather at The Promenade at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor to celebrate CHR’s 1 in 5, thank the event sponsors, and give everyone one last chance to run or walk at 5K course. Cash prizes will be given to the top runners! Registration will start at 7 a.m.; the run and walk will start at 8:30 a.m. and the celebration will follow.

Why is it called CHR’s 1 in 5? One in five Americans will need the services of a behavioral healthcare agency like CHR in their lifetime. Our goal is to raise awareness about behavioral healthcare services and dispel myths and misconceptions about mental health and addictions.

What is the cost? Registration is $35 per person and includes a free tee-shirt and race kit. Special rates are available for CHR employees and clients. Donations of any amount are welcome!

There are many ways to participate. If you are not a runner or walker, you are welcome to volunteer on the morning of June 1. You can also go online and make a gift to support CHR in honor of the event or someone you know who is running or walking. Gifts of any amount are welcome!
