5K Run and 1 Mile Walk During Mental Health Awareness Month will Benefit CHR, Wear a Tiara in Honor of Royal Wedding!

East Hartford, Conn. – Lace up your sneakers and join us on Saturday, May 19, during Mental Health Awareness Month, to show your support for CHR and raise awareness about behavioral healthcare services during CHR’s 1 in 5: a one-mile walk and 5K run.

Proceeds will support CHR, the state’s most comprehensive, non-profit behavioral healthcare agency and will call attention to the fact that 1 in 5 Americans will need the services of a behavioral healthcare agency in their lifetime.

Registration, volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are open. A gift of $100 helps to sponsor a team of CHR clients to participate in the event!

Please visit www.chrhealth.org to register or make a donation. If you are available to help as a volunteer on May 19, please contact Colleen McGill at cmcgill@chrhealth.org.

Plus, since the event falls on the same day as the Royal Wedding, participants are encouraged to wear a tiara, carry an English flag or wear any formal attire and be entered into a drawing to win an extra coupon to one of the two food trucks at the event! The food trucks are Fresh Monkee smoothies and Iron & Grain.

This will be a fun event that benefits a very worthy organization,” said Heather Gates, President and CEO of CHR, who will be running on the 19th. “At CHR, we are very committed to helping everyone achieve optimal health and we know that exercise is good for everything – the mind and body alike,” she said.

Here are the event details:

  • WHEN: Saturday, May 19
  • WHAT TIME: Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K starts at 10
  • WHERE: Great River Park in East Hartford – follow signs for parking in nearby parking lots
